Arizona in the Spring
I arrived exhausted Friday night (no sleep, no coffee, and a little Xanax to help me through the flight) and was whisked away into party preparations for the “Wasatch in the Sun” cocktail party.
Once the guests started to arrive, I snuck away into the guest room to freshen up and muster the energy to join the party. I made my way out and made my way for the tequila – and after a while, I got a second wind and ended up really enjoying myself.
The next morning the weather was dark and rainy. Kind of perfect for me because it slowed everyone down to a comfortable pace. Dad made huevos rancheros and we all stayed in our PJs till late in the morning. We finally went for a beautiful walk through the desert with the doggies.
Later that night we had a perfect Goodman dinner of green corn tamales, beans, salad and salsa.
Sunday was sunny and warm again. I went out and watched the girls ride a bit then we packed up and went to a Diamondbacks ball game after dropping Shelley off at the airport. I had a few beers and a wonderful time plus I finally got some color on my cheeks!
Monday morning Dad, Ashley & I went to the Cowboy Cafe for breakfast, then met Stephanie at the Double D for a little shopping. Dad & I stopped and loaded up the back of his truck with Bermuda Hay and I played a fierce game of fetch with a blue heeler named “Haystack.”
The rest of the afternoon I spent reading and lounging by the pool. It was warm and I wanted to go swimming, but only mustered up enough energy to dangle my feet off the edge.
After my skin turned a nice dark red (hoping we’ll soon find the perfect shade of bronze) Steph, Ash & I went to Surprise to get our toes painted and our eyebrows waxed. We came home to a dinner of pork that Mom cooked on the BBQ along with some roasted sweet potatoes and salad.
This morning Ashley left, and now Mom, Steph & I are packing up to head to Las Vegas.
