Smooth Sailing

I caught a nasty cold. I lost my wallet.

I bought a bunch of cold medicine and luckily my wallet was *found* the lost-and-found (where I bought my cold medicine).

So, as the cashier noted as she was returning my wallet, “Now the bad thing has happened and the rest of the trip will be smooth sailing.”

I liked her take on it.

It actually reminded me of having money stolen (from the very same wallet!) last year on my first day in Cuba. It broke my heart when I discovered the missing money. Though after some time worrying that the rest of the trip was going to be spoiled by a bad experience on the first day, I finally reconciled it as a reminder to be careful during the trip, let it go, and had an amazing time.

So, here I go! Off to Barcelona! Smooth sailing from here on out …

  1. Good luck Amy!!!!!!!! Que lo disfrutes! aproveches!

  2. Missing you already! I look forward to visiting Spain through your pictures.

  3. Ah,how it all works out. Reminds me of the time Rian left his wallet in a drug store in a mega mall in Bangkok. The clerk found us in an immense crowd, saving us from certain ruin. Hope your cold is immediately chased away with some cheese and a nice Rioja (so jealous!) We miss you and can’t wait to hear more.
